Edelbrock, LLC is looking for a motivated and energetic individual to be an R&D technician for its California Research and Development Technical Center. The ideal candidate will be an experienced technician with a demonstrated ability to work with a variety of automotive engine and vehicle level components. Must have a good understanding of automotive mechanical systems, modern ECU controls and diagnostics. Background in racing, hot rodding, and OEM development vehicle or engine building preferred. This position reports to the Director, Compliance and Calibration Engineering in Cerritos, CA.  

Brief Description 

  • Automotive Technician experienced with engine and vehicle repair, component installation, light welding and fabrication, and vehicle diagnostics.   

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Install superchargers, EFI systems, and other engine components onto R&D test vehicles 
  • Work collaboratively with Engineering team on vehicle kit layout, functionality, and appearance 
  • Diagnose issues with component and data acquisition sensor installation and function, including mechanical and electrical troubleshooting techniques 
  • Perform Maintenance for R&D vehicle fleet  
  • Creates and maintains accurate vehicle data for company organizational records. 
  • Occasionally running our Mustang Chassis dyno or travel to the Port of LA 

Education and Experience: 

  • Certified Mechanic (ASE, UTI or similar) or equivalent experience 
  • Min 2 years’ experience in Automotive technician work 
  • Demonstrated positive customer service skills

  • Must be able to obtain or have a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) TWIC card for entry into the port of LA 

Specialized Skills 

  • Strong understanding of vehicle diagnostics (OBD) 
  • Strong personal knowledge of internal-combustion engines, carburetion, fuel injection, electronic engine controls, and other automotive systems 
  • Data acquisition sensor mounting including wiring, welding ports, and tubing 
  • Career experience in the automotive aftermarket industry (desired) 
  • Experience with installation of Superchargers, Cylinder Heads, Camshafts, Carburetors, EFI systems (desired) 
  • Experience running a chassis dyno (desired) 
  • Demonstrated ability to weld and fabricate simple components (desired)
